What did Sefton Council and Lumiio do together?
Sefton Carers centre, in collaboration with Sefton Council, reached out to us here at Lumiio in mid-2025 looking to provide wristbands for their unpaid carers and families. They were already using wristbands from the 999ReUnite initiative, but the setup was complicated and not as seamless as they hoped; this is where Lumiio stepped in.
Sefton purchased 10,000 wristbands from Lumiio and in early October the collaboration was in full swing, with the 'Sefton' name and 'Powered by Lumiio' on the wristbands. These wristbands were given out free of charge to families and carers.
This partnership has been a true success, reflecting a shared commitment to compassion, safety, and community wellbeing. As Vicky Keeley, CEO of Sefton Carers Centre, beautifully expressed, the wristbands “are a simple but powerful way to help carers feel more secure.”
Who else has Lumiio collaborated with?
Lumiio has worked with many organisations, councils, charities and police forces such as Humberside police, Alzheimer's Scotland and more recently, Sefton Council and Carers Centre as mentioned above.
Lumiio products have had great real-life applications and have been helping vulnerable individuals up and down the country. One particular incident where Lumiio proved it's importance was when an elderly man had become disorientated and lost; he wandered into a shop and showed his wristband to the person behind the till, who then tapped the Lumiio product and help was quickly on it's way.
These collaborations with police, charities, councils and organisations have not only boosted Lumiio's name and thus helping safeguarding individuals all over the UK, but also serve as teaching these organisations and places what to do when they encounter Lumiio products.
So, what is Lumiio?
Lumiio is a brand that creates safeguarding products for vulnerable individuals suffering with dementia- their products range from wristbands to hangtags and cards. They store essential personal information such as emergency contacts and important details like triggers and dislikes.
What do these products do?
As mentioned above, the products store essential personal information, so that in the case of an emergency or distressing situation, responders are able to tap the products (with an NFC-enabled phone) and the essential personal information is displayed.
What is NFC?
NFC (near-field communication) is a type of wireless technology that allows information to be read quickly and seamlessly with just a tap. Most people don't realise that NFC is present in the daily lives of most people; for example, Apple Pay or Google Pay. In Lumiio's situation, the NFC tag is within all of the products. All of this essential information is on the tag and can be read by a responder with just the tap of a mobile device, the information is then displayed on said mobile device. 'NFC-enabled' sounds more complicated than it is, most phones are 'NFC-enabled', meaning they can read NFC tags and do NFC things, like tap someone's Lumiio product and help, or use Apple Pay.
How does this help?
Lumiio eases the strain on emergency services and the NHS by creating a less time-consuming solution than the A&E and so on, through the products' usability and ease. It also aids in the reunion of distressed individuals and their families or carers.
“Lumiio has truly changed the lives of so many, and for that I am incredibly proud at what we have achieved thus far,”- Phil Coote, CEO
Will Lumiio be expanding their range?
The short answer is yes. In fact, Lumiio has already released products for individuals other than those with dementia. For example, people with allergies, learning or communicative difficulties can also use the cards, hangtags and wristbands in the new range, as there has been released products with wording such as 'I have allergies', 'I have communication difficulties' and 'If I am lost, tap this card'.
Whilst primary focus of Lumiio is dementia and helping those suffering from this, expanding the range of products and users seemed an obvious choice. This is because as a brand, Lumiio is dedicated not just to helping those with dementia, but vulnerable individuals everywhere, all the time, no matter the case.
Very soon, there will also be iron-on patches available to buy on the website. These are durable and waterproof patches that can be ironed on to any piece of clothing. The premise of this new product is the same as all the others: to store essential personal information of the individual wearing it. The only difference from other products, such as the wristbands for instance, is that the patches are more discreet and provide a solution for those with sensory sensitivities.
What does the future look like for Lumiio?
Lumiio is growing rapidly and in popularity. The future for Lumiio will hopefully see the introduction of even more products and will help even more vulnerable individuals up and down the country.
If you or someone you know suffers from dementia, has learning or communicative difficulties, can get lost quite frequently, has allergies or needs something on them at all times to let people know of their situation in case of emergency, then Lumiio is the perfect solution for peace of mind and instilling confidence and independence.
